Ok folks .If I find anything good in this great central valley, I'm gonna go ahead and tell you about it and then you can remind me about the crime rates and the summer heat and it'll all go back to neutral, but I will feel better about living here.

The problem for you and I both is that we spent a significant fraction of our lives living in San Luis Obispo, where perfect weather 11.8 months out of the year will spoil you for life. Fresno climate (or Modesto) is better than 95% of the country and the vast majority of the rest of the world. So here's a great thought about the great central valley: I could be living in Buffalo NY in the winter, or Richmond Virginia in the summer. But I'll stay here.
